Biden Administration Touts Drained Emergency Oil Reserves as Top 2022 Accomplishment

The Biden administration is touting its decision to drain America’s emergency oil reserves to historically low levels—and sell millions of barrels to China and other foreign entities—as one of its “top accomplishments in 2022.”
President Joe Biden’s Energy Department in a Dec. 23 press release included its release of “190 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve” as second on its list of top 2022 accomplishments. The department said the reserve sales protected “global energy security”—a far cry from its reasoning behind the sales in April, when the department said a release of 30 million reserve barrels would aid domestic consumers by addressing “the pain Americans are feeling at the pump.”
The rhetorical shift comes after Biden faced bipartisan criticism for selling millions of reserve barrels to foreign entities, including the Chinese government. In April, Biden sold roughly one million barrels to Unipec, the trading arm of the China Petrochemical Corporation, which is wholly owned by the Chinese government. One month later, with domestic gas prices at record highs, more than five million U.S. reserve barrels were sent overseas to Europe and Asia, a move that Reuters said inhibited Biden’s ability to “lower record pump prices” through the sales. As a result of those releases, the United States—which consumes roughly 20 million barrels of oil per day—holds just 372 million barrels, its lowest level since 1983.
Months after Biden’s Chinese fire sale, House Republicans are pledging to stop Beijing from taking advantage of future releases once they elect a speaker and take control of the lower chamber. Rep. Steve Scalise (R., La.) on Friday released a slate of “meaningful, ‘ready-to-go'” bills, including one that would bar the Energy Department from selling oil reserves “to any entity that is under the ownership, control, or influence of the Chinese Communist Party.” “We wanted to start with some things on [the Strategic Petroleum Oil Reserve], which we’ve seen President Biden raid to cover for his failed policies,” Scalise said.
The White House did not return a request for comment. The Energy Department defended its decision to drain America’s oil reserves, saying the Biden administration “rightly authorized emergency use of the [Strategic Petroleum Reserve] mission to address supply disruptions—providing relief to American families and refineries when needed the most.”
Beyond Biden’s oil reserve sale to China, Republicans have accused the Democrat of using America’s emergency oil supply—which is meant to be used as a national security tool in times of disaster or other threats—for political reasons. With the midterm elections just weeks away, Biden in October announced plans to release an additional 15 million barrels from the reserves, a move he said would help struggling Americans and “prevent oil price spikes.” Energy experts, however, quickly said the release would not lead to lower gas prices, with former Energy Information Administration head Jay Hakes calling it “small potatoes.” The Biden administration marked the end of the reserve releases a month after the midterms, even as Americans pay roughly a dollar more for a gallon of gas than they did when Biden took office.
“The mere fact that the administration stopped tapping the reserves immediately after the election says everything,” Power the Future founder and executive director Daniel Turner told the Washington Free Beacon. “The only emergency it addressed was the emergency of losing the Senate majority.”
While Biden has been quick to drain America’s oil reserves, the Democrat campaigned in 2020 against domestic oil and gas production, promising to “end fossil fuel.” Biden during his first month in office went on to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline and implement a moratorium on new gas leases on federal land.

America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve Falls to Lowest Level Since 1983 as Gas Prices Rise Again

The Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) fell to its lowest level since 1983, as oil and gas prices rose again last week.
The Biden administration has tapped over 240 million barrels from the SPR this year to lower domestic gas prices, which have been rising since the president took office.
President Joe Biden first announced his plan to release oil from the national reserve on an emergency basis on Nov. 23, 2021, as part of a “major effort to moderate the price of oil” and lower prices at the average “corner gas station.”
The SPR was established when Congress passed the Energy Policy and Conservation Act after the 1973 oil embargo, for emergency shortages, acts of terrorism, and natural disasters.
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Biden ordered the release in March of the first 30 million barrels out of the 180 million initially intended to be tapped from the SPR in 2022.
Republicans and energy analysts have been highly critical of the plan, arguing that it does little to lower gas prices and makes the United States more vulnerable to major supply disruptions in the future.
U.S. gas prices soared over $5 per gallon in June, reaching an all-time high, but later fell below $4 by the end of summer.
Right before the midterms, Biden controversially ordered the DOE to sell an additional 15 million barrels from the SPR on October 19, in addition to the oil already released, and called for additional sales throughout the winter.
The emergency oil stockpile, which is managed by the Department of Energy (DOE), tumbled to 375.1 million barrels as of Dec. 23, according to the Energy Information Administration.
This is the first time that the reserve has fallen below 378 million barrels since Dec. 30, 1983, when it reached 378.3 million barrels.
In the meantime, average national gas prices rose to $3.159 per gallon on Dec. 29, for the third consecutive day, according to the American Automobile Association’s gas price index.
However, the brief rally earlier this week and other associated factors may deter producers from selling oil contracts to the U.S. government at its desired price of between $67 and $72 per barrel, to refill the reserve.
West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the U.S. oil benchmark, jumped to nearly $80 per barrel last week, but later fell to around $78.30 by Dec. 29, while the Brent crude index, the global oil benchmark, hit $84.33 per barrel.
The DOE’s Office of Petroleum Reserves announced on Dec. 16, that it would start repurchasing crude oil for the SPR.
Higher oil prices potentially pose a challenge to the DOE’s plan to begin soliciting bids from oil producers to refill the SPR using fixed-price contracts.
The Chicago Mercantile Exchange showed future WTI prices holding above $79 per barrel from February through July 2023.
The DOE’s program to refill the national oil stockpile by 3 million barrels a day, is set to begin in February 2023.
Two factors driving up oil markets include rising demand from China, as it emerges from its pandemic restrictions in recent weeks, and a potential reduction in oil output from Russia after it promised to retaliate against countries supporting the G-7-led price cap.
The latest price estimates may encourage producers to take their chances with the market rather than make bids for the government’s contracts.
Congressional Republicans have since denounced the move and announced that they would impose further oversight and new legislation next year, that would halt further releases from the stockpile, which is dangerously low, reported Fox Business.
The Republicans are pushing a bill that would prohibit the DOE from tapping the SPR unless there is a “severe energy supply interruption” and until the administration issues a plan to boost domestic oil and gas production.
They also warned the rapid depletion of the stockpile would allow opponents like Russia, China, and Iran to “gain geopolitical leverage” over the United States.
Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY.), the ranking member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), the ranking member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, warned last month that the Biden administration was endangering its future of the SPR.
The two Republican lawmakers accused Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm of overseeing the sale of more than 245 million barrels from the national stockpile, while “gas prices remain high and supply chain shortages continue to plague our economy.”
They noted that instead of encouraging American energy producers to drill for more oil, Biden administration officials failed to “establish long-term plans for the optimal size, configuration, maintenance, and operational capabilities of the reserve,” while depleting it to its lowest level in decades.
GOP legislators noted that while the United States remains a net exporter of oil products, the SPR needs to remain stable enough to mitigate any potential supply disruptions that could affect the nation’s energy infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the Biden administration has been criticizing American oil producers throughout the year for spending too little on additional production, despite the White House’s best efforts to discourage drilling.
Major producers like Chevron and ExxonMobil have said that they were trying to increase production in the Permian Basin in response to the criticism, but others in the industry have said that any new drilling projects might expose them and their investors to risks if prices plummet.

The grand jury is the most powerful law enforcement agency known in human history most especially in those instances when the grand jury acts on its own initiative, dismissing the presence of a government prosecutor.

I have a sense a FISA court has been engaged for a time and has, or will shortly vitiate, that is destroy the legal validity of the Biden/Harris installment into office. All of today’s proceedings are constitutionally void. A FISA court judge could have ruled today’s “inauguration” unconstitutional beforehand.
With Biden / Harris / Pelosi handcuffed, Mike Pompeo becomes president (as determined by continuity of government chain of command.
Pompeo can install DJT as vice-president.
This was President Trump’s telegraph when he said he’d be back soon in another form.
With DJT’s return to federal office, Pompeo relinquishes his VP spot to return to his SECSTATE role.
President Trump back and inaugurated to a second term within hours. Or maybe a day or two.
It’s too much to speculate who will do the arresting and under what jurisdictions. Charges will be all over a massive spectrum of outlawed conduct.
It’s too soon to guess what role the military plays. Much of the proof condemning the communist democrats is in military custody and control.

If this scenario runs true, President Trump gets re-elected.

There are two paths forward:
1) The Congress will decide the presidential contest:

Both of the above will act in synergy.
Whatever happens in the U.S. Supreme Court, or in lower courts is of little consequence.
Court rulings will merely influence congressional action. That is, court rulings will supply representatives and senators with information so as to justify rejection of state submissions certifying their process and results. Put another way, state legislatures and the courts will variously rule that the election was rigged and is fatally compromised, requiring the Congress to act on its own.
Meanwhile, there is the military component which will act.
We’ll find out together with how the government machinery is going to proceed and on what timeline to address TREASON, sedition and the mortal threat to America’s national security.
My suspicion is that military personnel will act before the Congress forcing the Congress to maintain President Trump in the White House. One government component informing the other continuously. Foreign interference in U.S. elections and with critical American infrastructure is an Act of War against America.
Military authorities could wait, briefing Congress behind the scenes in secret meetings, forcing the Congress to act to persevere President Trump’s win, and afterwards (after 6 January 2021) take national security action against the bad guys.
DOJ, FBI and Homeland Security: Useless: They may weigh in at some point, embarrassed and forced to do their job, but don’t put any money on it. These three federal agencies are completely corrupt and require scuttling after President Trump’s 20 January 2021 inauguration. This will happen.
