The U.S. military COVID-19 vaccine mandate has been lifted and Congress is considering legislation to compensate service members fired for vaccination status, but West Point refuses to acknowledge it. The U.S. Military Academy actually reinstated its travel ban on unvaccinated cadets after the military mandate was lifted, according to military attorney R. Davis Younts and Just the News. At this point, West Point is just playing power games.

The military has still not begun to treat unvaccinated service members equally, however. ”Despite the lifting of the vaccine mandate, unvaccinated military members are still facing repercussions, including denial of benefits, ineligibility for promotion and/or deployment, and potentially diminished employment prospects for those already discharged,” Just the News said. West Point’s reinstatement of restrictions after the vaccine mandate’s strike-down is particularly direct and open coercion.

For our VIPs: The Sad State of MSNBC’s Recycled, Tired Vax Propaganda Targeting Men

I reported here back on Nov. 11 that West Point’s Veterans’ Day present to unvaccinated cadets was to give them a 10-hour ultimatum the day before (Nov. 10) to decide to get the COVID-19 vaccine or leave campus. The West Point developmental counseling form threatened, “Failure to obey this order may result in punitive or adverse administrative action,” including being forced to leave the military with either an honorable or dishonorable discharge. The 10-hour ultimatum was a denial of an appeal of the original vaccine exemption requests from unvaccinated cadets. And although the appeals were officially denied Nov. 2, cadets were only informed Nov. 10 with the 10-hour deadline — just before a three-day weekend. This while all COVID-19 vaccines available to the military were only emergency use authorized, not FDA approved. All of which indicates that West Point isn’t interested in health; it’s interested in coercing cadets into following an unjust order regardless of how right or wrong it is.

West Point originally prohibited all cadets from travel at the beginning of the pandemic, then restricted only unvaccinated cadets, then dropped that restriction last semester for events and sports while the military vaccine mandate was still in force, Just the News said. But after the Pentagon dropped its vaccine mandate, West Point reinstated travel restrictions in what “feels like coercion” to get vaccinated, Younts said. The attorney wondered if the move came as there isn’t “anything left to coerce [the cadets] into compliance?”

This comes as there is increasing evidence of the COVID-19 vaccines’ serious side effects and as young people, including an Air Force Academy cadet, die suddenly in increasing numbers. For instance, a recent study found high levels of spike protein in COVID mRNA-vaccinated myocarditis patients, Epoch Times reported, and world-renowned cardiologist Dr. Peter McCullough said in December that myocarditis cases went from 4 per million to 25,000 per million after the COVID vaccine rollout. A new video from Project Veritas also showed a Pfizer executive boasting that his company was planning on “mutating” the COVID virus to make more COVID vaccines, which he called a “cash cow.”

Just the News noted the amount of effort unvaccinated cadets put into their refusal to be coerced:

”While the vaccine mandate was still in effect, the unvaccinated cadets submitted Religious Accommodation Requests (RAR) for exemptions. After the requests were denied, they appealed the denials, which were also denied. After the denials of their RAR appeals, they requested medical exemptions, which were in turn denied, appealed and denied again.”

Following the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) repeal of the military vaccine mandate, legislation has been introduced in the House of Representatives and the Senate to prevent the Department of Defense (DOD) from ever issuing a COVID-19 vaccine mandate again without Congressional approval, Just the News noted. The legislation would also make the DOD reinstate unvaccinated military and give those service members forced out of the military for vaccination status retirement pay.

Let’s hope Congress also calls out West Point for its coercive tactics against unvaccinated cadets.

2023 01 24 11 16 26 appalling military members who were fired for refusing covid jab ordered to p

Written by Steve Cannon for USSA News.

It’s an insult to injury, service members who were fired over refusing the Pentagon’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate are now being forced to repay signing bonuses after serving their country for years and putting their lives on the line.

One former Army service member who refused the jab last May and was kicked out of the military for it told Fox News Digital in an interview that he is now being forced to pay back his original signing bonus. The Pentagon is claiming it wants its money back because the service member failed to complete the commitment in his contract.

Members of the US military that were fired for not getting the Covid Vax are now being forced to repay their signing bonuses.

This is unacceptable to say the least.

The Biden administration is the biggest disgrace in our nation’s history.

The soldier signed up for a six-year stretch with the Army and received a $7,000 signing bonus. Since he was discharged before the six years were up, the military notified him that he would have to pay back a prorated amount of just over $4,000. To cover the cost, he had to “sell” 60 of his unused vacation days to cover the amount owed. He was evidently one of the lucky ones who had that recourse. Many didn’t.

The service member contends that the whole situation has affected his mental health. He asserts that the way the military treated him was a “final kick in the face.”

“I’ve deployed multiple times, and I feel like the last thing I had was selling leave days that I earned and was never able to take due to me being deployed or needing that time to prepare for the training cycle. I was about to enter a new world with no income, and that extra bit would have been a nice buffer in my rainy day fund to keep me afloat until I was able to find new employment,” he commented.

“The Department of Defense continues to fall short on reestablishing trust for wrongdoings, and this is yet another example of that,” another service member told Fox News Digital in an interview. He stated that the recoupment of signing bonuses is the “icing on the cake” of the Pentagon’s deplorable treatment of military members.

There is a lot of anger and resentment out there and with this kind of treatment of the military, it will likely only get worse.

“The appalling treatment these individuals endured broke the trust that is owed to our citizens and our volunteers. America’s sons and daughters,” the Army member bitterly remarked in a statement.

“Until true efforts are made to establish trust, the recruiting and retention shortfalls will only continue. The individuals who make public statements that they are unsure what has contributed to the current recruiting and retention shortfalls need to take a look in the mirror, and perhaps they should resign for the betterment of our nation,” he added.

The claw-back of signing bonuses by the Pentagon from discharged service members follows Illegitimate Illegitimate President Biden’s signing of the fiscal year 2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which included a provision to repeal the administration’s military vaccine mandate.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin also signed a memo updating records and removing letters of reprimand from troops whose exemption requests for the vaccine were denied.

In light of those developments, there appears to be no excuse for the Pentagon to take its pound of flesh from service members in retaliation for submitting to the vaccine mandate. Many agree it’s incredibly bad PR for the military.

On Tuesday, a watchdog report claimed that the Department of Defense (DOD) has still been unable to account for at least $220 billion worth of equipment that had been given to government contractors.

According to the Daily Caller, the report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) noted that auditors first noticed the Pentagon’s failure to keep track of such contractor-loaned equipment back in 2001. The report says that the DOD has not made any improvements to its accountability processes since then, which heightens the possibility of overlooking similar errors in the future.

“This long-standing issue affects the accounting and reporting of GFP and is one of the reasons DOD is unable to produce auditable financial statements,” the GAO report read in part.

The GAO went on to say that when it comes to attempting to identify the causes of such financial deficiencies, the DOD should create an entirely separate plan to address this issue, since “department-wide efforts have not been comprehensive and sufficiently detailed.”

“Without such a strategy, DOD is at an increased risk that its efforts to remediate the [government furnished property] material weakness will continue to be insufficient and that it will continue to miss or push back target remediation dates,” the report continued.

Even more alarming is the likelihood that the given total of $220 billion in unaccounted property may be lower than the actual amount. The GAO noted in its report that there had been past instances of the military admitting that it could not provide an estimate; in 2016, the Army told the GAO that it had an “unknown” number of assets, and that “quantities may be greatly different than the Army’s documented property records reflect.”

Since the DOD had its first audit in 2018, it failed its fifth consecutive audit in November of last year. Of the Pentagon’s roughly $3.5 trillion in assets, contractors were unable to provide expenditures for about 61 percent of the money spent.

“I would not say that we flunked,” said Pentagon Comptroller Mike McCord in response to the abysmal report. “The process is important for us to do, and it is making us get better. It is not making us get better as fast as we want.”

The vast majority of U.S. active duty military members believe the Pentagon has become politicized, according to data obtained exclusively by Breitbart News.

Sixty-eight percent of active duty members say they have “witnessed a growing politicization,” while 53 percent say the military has become “too politicized.” Sixty-eight percent also say such politicization would impact their decision to encourage their children to join the military.

The data, gathered by the National Independent Panel on Military Service and Readiness (NIPMSR), show specific policy areas of concern for active duty military at a time when President Joe Biden’s Pentagon has been criticized by many for conducting social experiments in the ranks of the military, as opposed to focusing on national defense. The NIPMSR was empaneled by Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts.

“The Pentagon should be focused on winning America’s future wars rather than prioritizing divisive programs and issues,” Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL), who chaired the panel, said. “The Pentagon should be focused on how best to counter our global adversaries like China and recruiting the best and brightest to our ranks.”

Changing policy allowing unrestricted service of transgender-identifying persons appears to be a major sticking point for active duty military, with 80 percent reporting that the changes have decreased their trust in the military.

Equity-based initiatives like lowering physical fitness standards are also of great concern for active duty, as 70 percent saying the reduction of such standards to “even the playing field” lowers their trust in the institution.

The new focus on “climate change as a top national security threat” has also lost the trust of 70 percent of active duty military.

Sixty-nine percent said the inclusion of critical race theory books on the reading list for the Chief of Naval Operations was concerning, while 68 percent said they were concerned about reports of sexual assault.

When broken down by top-selected areas of concern, the highest ranking were an “over emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives,” the reduction of fitness standards, and the military funding abortions.

“It’s more clear than ever that Americans are losing faith in what should be America’s most trusted institution and the current recruitment crisis facing our military is evidence of that,” Waltz said.

According to Heritage Executive Vice President Derrick Morgan, 2022 “was the worst year for recruiting since the advent of the all-volunteer force, and 2023 is shaping up to be as bad or worse.”

“These alarming poll results confirm what many have long suspected,” panel member and First Liberty Institute director of Military Affairs and senior counsel Mike Berry said. “Our military is further adrift than ever and risks becoming completely unmoored from its national security role.”

“This poll is another warning shot to policymakers that we are failing our troops by allowing political activism to deprive them of the focus and high training standards they deserve to fight and win,” Hudson Institute senior fellow and panel member Rebecca Heinrichs said.

The Consequences of Lowering Military Recruiting Standards, from a former Commander’s Perspective

The American military in which I served for twenty-eight years continues to struggle to meet recruiting goals. I am not surprised. The Biden administration’s ongoing pursuit of ‘progressive’ (regressive) policies comes at a hefty price that cannot be ignored. The problem is so bad they are resorting to lowering recruiting standards to meet the need. This is abnormal for an American military that is not at war. The last time the military’s standards were reduced like this was at the height of the dual conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. I had a front-row seat to the consequences of lowered standards, both as a commander in combat zones and as a trainer.

Are We at War?

Again, we are not at war; or are we? I would say we are in a war, but an internal one over the future of our own country. The military is part of that war, and we should not be experimenting with readiness, but we are, to our shame. The military serves one purpose, to win our nation’s wars. It should not serve as a giant laboratory for ideological indoctrination. The price of failure is too high.

America’s military is a cultural microcosm of our society. Big city kids from Los Angeles, farm kids from the mid-west, black-brown-red-white, each with their own motivations for joining. Some join for college money, some for adventure, others to escape a previous reality, and many to fulfill a desire to serve the nation they love. The attacks on servicemembers by their own chain of command seem to be intentional and designed to reduce our readiness as a nation. This is part of the internal war.

Who willnot join?

The kind of recruits the military needs are the same kind who have no desire to sit in a classroom and be told they are racist, sexist, misogynist, or any other kind of ‘ist. Our military needs people who are physically fit and mentally capable of combat in harsh environments. They should not be filling out paperwork identifying their pronouns. These are the kind of recruits who love this country and cannot see enlisting in this environment. I cannot blame them.

Who will join?

There are great people still joining the military. They keep their heads down and focus on the mission while waiting for a leadership climate more focused on readiness and excellence. They pray for something new in 2024. This also means there are many joining who are willing to take part in the indoctrination and might even embrace it. Those who embrace the woke culture are typically not your warfighters. This causes problems for commanders who are tasked with training their people for combat and building the best team they can in a political environment focused on pronouns, diversity, equity, inclusion, and the apparent targeting of patriotic people for removal.

How Does Lowering Recruiting Standards Impact Readiness?

1.  Every time standards are lowered recruits who otherwise could not join flood the recruiting centers, fill basic training slots, then move out to active, reserve, or national guard units. Here they often cause more problems because the issues they had prior to enlistment are magnified in the high-paced and stressful military environment.

2. Commanders tasked with building combat-ready teams spend much of their time dealing with those problems. They spend a lot less time on training and readiness as a result.

3. The recruits who have the problems get waivers to join because those tasked with meeting recruiting numbers are only responsible for signing them to a contract and rarely deal with that same recruit a year later. In recruiting command, the goal is quantity over quality.

4. Commanders who would rather have eighty percent of their units filled with high-quality servicemembers are forced into accepting new recruits with problems. Their units look like they are one hundred percent filled on paper, but the reality is commanders are forced to spend eighty percent of their time on the twenty percent with the greatest number of problems. This is time-consuming, and the eighty percent see the command focused on the biggest problems, not the biggest contributors. The same twenty percent usually end up being removed from service for a variety of reasons and it can take a long time. All these factors kill the morale of the unit and cause the quality to leave rather than re-enlist. In the worst case, something I have personally experienced, the unit is scheduled to deploy, and the same twenty percent must stay home. The American taxpayer just spent thousands of dollars training somebody who cannot do their job. Commanders seek quality over quantity, the opposite of the recruiting mentality.

What can be done?

1. Elect a different Commander in Chief, one who respects the military and understands its importance.

2. Eliminate the vaccine mandate for all servicemembers. No, the most recently signed NDAA did not accomplish that for all.

3. Eliminate all Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) training requirements and offices/positions.

4. Raise recruiting standards, don’t lower them. Quality often matters more than quantity. Quality builds great teams, quantity builds a stack of paperwork and wastes time and money.

5. Diversify incentives. Servicemembers join for many reasons, not always financial.

6. Teach the meaning of the oath and the U.S. Constitution, as originally written and intended.

The military needs to be an organization recognized for having the highest standards. This creates a culture of excellence where servicemembers know they are part of the elite and are expected to perform that way. Lowering standards does not work, it creates more and bigger problems.
