West Point Reinstates Travel Ban on Unvaxxed Cadets AFTER Military Mandate Repealed

The U.S. military COVID-19 vaccine mandate has been lifted and Congress is considering legislation to compensate service members fired for vaccination status, but West Point refuses to acknowledge it. The U.S. Military Academy actually reinstated its travel ban on unvaccinated cadets after the military mandate was lifted, according to military attorney R. Davis Younts and Just the News. At this point, West Point is just playing power games.
The military has still not begun to treat unvaccinated service members equally, however. ”Despite the lifting of the vaccine mandate, unvaccinated military members are still facing repercussions, including denial of benefits, ineligibility for promotion and/or deployment, and potentially diminished employment prospects for those already discharged,” Just the News said. West Point’s reinstatement of restrictions after the vaccine mandate’s strike-down is particularly direct and open coercion.

I reported here back on Nov. 11 that West Point’s Veterans’ Day present to unvaccinated cadets was to give them a 10-hour ultimatum the day before (Nov. 10) to decide to get the COVID-19 vaccine or leave campus. The West Point developmental counseling form threatened, “Failure to obey this order may result in punitive or adverse administrative action,” including being forced to leave the military with either an honorable or dishonorable discharge. The 10-hour ultimatum was a denial of an appeal of the original vaccine exemption requests from unvaccinated cadets. And although the appeals were officially denied Nov. 2, cadets were only informed Nov. 10 with the 10-hour deadline — just before a three-day weekend. This while all COVID-19 vaccines available to the military were only emergency use authorized, not FDA approved. All of which indicates that West Point isn’t interested in health; it’s interested in coercing cadets into following an unjust order regardless of how right or wrong it is.
West Point originally prohibited all cadets from travel at the beginning of the pandemic, then restricted only unvaccinated cadets, then dropped that restriction last semester for events and sports while the military vaccine mandate was still in force, Just the News said. But after the Pentagon dropped its vaccine mandate, West Point reinstated travel restrictions in what “feels like coercion” to get vaccinated, Younts said. The attorney wondered if the move came as there isn’t “anything left to coerce [the cadets] into compliance?”
This comes as there is increasing evidence of the COVID-19 vaccines’ serious side effects and as young people, including an Air Force Academy cadet, die suddenly in increasing numbers. For instance, a recent study found high levels of spike protein in COVID mRNA-vaccinated myocarditis patients, Epoch Times reported, and world-renowned cardiologist Dr. Peter McCullough said in December that myocarditis cases went from 4 per million to 25,000 per million after the COVID vaccine rollout. A new video from Project Veritas also showed a Pfizer executive boasting that his company was planning on “mutating” the COVID virus to make more COVID vaccines, which he called a “cash cow.”
Just the News noted the amount of effort unvaccinated cadets put into their refusal to be coerced:
”While the vaccine mandate was still in effect, the unvaccinated cadets submitted Religious Accommodation Requests (RAR) for exemptions. After the requests were denied, they appealed the denials, which were also denied. After the denials of their RAR appeals, they requested medical exemptions, which were in turn denied, appealed and denied again.”
Following the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) repeal of the military vaccine mandate, legislation has been introduced in the House of Representatives and the Senate to prevent the Department of Defense (DOD) from ever issuing a COVID-19 vaccine mandate again without Congressional approval, Just the News noted. The legislation would also make the DOD reinstate unvaccinated military and give those service members forced out of the military for vaccination status retirement pay.
Let’s hope Congress also calls out West Point for its coercive tactics against unvaccinated cadets.

The Tyranny of the Few Drives Wokeness in the Military

As various strands of wokeness continue to be infused throughout military training, issues of gender identity have come to the fore. American taxpayers can rightly ask why the US armed forces think they must defer to every minority notion that bubbles up in the civilian community.
Why Is America Moving to a Transgender Military?
In building an armed force, shouldn’t the Defense Department require in its soldiers the capacity for sharp judgment and decision-making that will prevent deadly consequences for other warfighters? That does not seem to matter, as The Wall Street Journal editorial staff observed in its opinion piece “The US Government’s Woke Training.” The article described information delivered under the rubric of “diversity training,” using scenarios a US Army soldier might encounter:
“Notable is a series of vignettes that cover pronoun usage, urinalysis observation (one can only imagine what this means), and a serviceman who wants ‘to discuss his newly confirmed pregnancy.’ With respect to showers, schedules can be adjusted, or curtains installed. But a soldier’s gender in the Army’s system governs which facilities are used. Accommodating only a transgender soldier is prohibited.”
In other words, the US Army cannot have facilities for transgender people only. The scenario where the “serviceman” wants to discuss “his newly confirmed pregnancy” brings to mind an observation Eric Metaxas, acclaimed biographer of Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Martin Luther, made during a speech: “Roosters don’t lay eggs.” Men don’t get pregnant. So, why does the US Army believe it must train its soldiers to adopt such thinking? This question is particularly apt when, “[a]ccording to the Williams Institute, 1.4 million adults identify as transgender in the United States. About 0.5% of adults 18-24 identify as transgender, and 0.3% of adults 65 and older identify as transgender,” explained the World Population Review.

On April 26, 2021, the American Medical Association (AMA) got into the act with a letter to the National Governors Association, stating that “trans and non-binary gender identities are normal variations of human identity and expression.” Voilà — problem solved. What AMA described as “normal” – which had been a disorder just a few short years ago – became part of the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) campaign.
The issue remains, however, the definition of “normal.” When between 99.5% to 99.7% of any population must succumb to the pressure of a small minority, something is amiss. The standard for any accommodation must be: Does it allow the US Army to fight better — more efficiently, more strategically, more capably — in confronting America’s fiercest and most determined enemies?
Americans are, by their nature, willing to be accommodating. The folks pushing the transgender military agenda claim it’s about diversity, inclusiveness, and fairness. But those are terms to be used in the civilian world, not the military. There is nothing fair about war. But when faced with the tyranny of so few over so many, it’s time to ask: Where is the warfighter value?

Former Green Beret Ivan Raiklin argued on a recent episode of “Tucker Carlson Today” on Fox Nation that the military has moved away from its focus, which he says is to win wars and defend the United States Constitution.
Raiklin, a former lieutenant colonel, retired from the military after serving for 25 years because the Pentagon began promoting vaccine mandates and equity training. He stressed to host Tucker Carlson that in order to defend the nation’s Constitution, one must know what the Constitution says.

“So, if I ask the question of [Defense] Secretary [Lloyd] Austin, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff [Mark] Milley, if I ask you, general, what are you going to do when the 25th Amendment is violated? Oh, you don’t know what the 25th Amendment is. How about, what are you going to do when the 12th Amendment’s violated? Oh, you don’t know that one. Let me go to the base document. What about Article II, Section 1, clause 2 or Article I, Section 4? Most of these people are going to look at you like deer in the headlights — have no clue what you’re talking about,” he remarked.

Raiklin argued that the media and all three branches of federal government, including at the state level, have pushed a certain narrative into our institutions “to make people think that this is actually — that the extremism thing is a thing, and it only applies to one side of the political ideology.”
The former Green Beret reveals that because of pressure and the idea that those in his network will be fired from their positions or lose job benefits over speaking out against the woke political agenda, it forces them to remain silent, even if that means having to go against their own values and beliefs.
“So, in a sense, some folks are convinced that that’s true, even though it’s not. It’s not based on fact,” Raiklin told “Tucker Carlson Today.”
“Others know that critical thinkers — I would say a majority of my network is in the special ops and intel community and those that are even — lean left of center. When I present the evidence in a very deliberate, systematic manner, they know where I stand ideologically. They’ll agree with the conclusion, which does not align with what’s being promulgated at the top.”
“But they don’t want to lose their job. They don’t want to lose their benefits,” he continued. “It all comes down to that. It all comes down to safety, security and they’re willing to bend and budge on their moral, ethical and even legal principles.”
The military has received criticism from embracing a progressive ideology, not only from its own service members, but the overall public as well.
According to a report, by Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, cadets at West Point are being taught about critical race theory (CRT) and “in order to understand racial inequality and slavery, it is first necessary to address whiteness.”
The report further explains that the Biden-Harris administration approved of service members who want to “transition” while on active duty to receive “gender reassignment surgery,” thus allowing the transitioned member to choose whichever bathroom and shower facility they want to use.
The Air Force added to its writing guide that airmen and guardians could use pronouns in their signature and its academy gave a slide presentation that instructed members to use gender-neutral language. Ramstein Air Force base, located in Germany, organized a drag queen story hour for children in 2022, however, the event was called off after Rubio sent a letter of disapproval to the base and because it received widespread unease from service members and their spouses.
Service members have expressed their concerns with the military because of its requirements for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs. “I do perceive the Army leadership as woke and probably the lower enlisted (they have been indoctrinated in school),” one service member told Fox News Digital. “Equity-diversity is another way to divide and control the masses. It does nothing for the warfighter.”

Make no mistake: Dempsey’s reward for laying to rest the report regarding the militarization of the civilian police force in Samson, Alabama two years ago is his promotion to the Chair of the Joint Chiefs.
